1. 1

A casual British word for football — and in Britain that means the round-ball game you kick, the one students already call soccer in American English. People say footie the way they say telly for television: friendly, spoken, often about a match on TV or a kick-around in the park. You hear it from fans, in pubs, on the radio. It is not a school-essay word, and Americans almost never use it. Though actually, spelling and country matter. Australians often write footy, and they may mean Australian Rules, a different game altogether. Footie is also not American football, the oval-ball game with helmets.

    足球(英式口語;指踢圓球的那種,不是美式足球)
