Floortime is when an adult gets down onto the floor to play with a child, at the child’s level, instead of standing over them or calling from a chair. The child is often already on the floor with toys; the adult joins that world so the child feels safer and more willing to play, talk, and share. Some therapists and teachers use floortime as a planned way of working, especially with children who find people and talk hard: they follow the child’s game rather than giving orders, and some believe this helps the child’s mind grow more fully. Though actually, many parents do this every day and never name it — they just sit on the rug. The word itself is more at home in clinics and special-education rooms than at the dinner table.
地板時間(大人蹲下來陪孩子玩;早期療育也用這個說法)
