A fiancé is a man who is engaged to be married — he has asked someone (or been asked) to marry him, and the wedding is planned but hasn't happened yet. The word comes from French, and there's a spelling difference by gender that English kept: a man is a 'fiancé' (one e at the end), and a woman is a 'fiancée' (two e's at the end) — they sound the same when spoken.
