To feminize something is to change it so that it includes women, suits women, or takes on qualities people call typical of women. A workplace feminizes when many more women join it. A product is feminized when the colour, the ads, and the shape are made to look soft or pretty. In biology, to feminize can mean to make a body develop in a female way. Though actually, listen for the tone. Newspapers and angry uncles often say a sport, a school, or a country is being “feminized” as if that were a fall. The verb itself does not have to be an insult — but in public talk it often carries one. It does not mean “to turn someone into a feminist.” That is a different word-family neighbour, and mixing them is how arguments get silly.
