Feathery means looking or feeling light and soft, like a feather. Clouds can be feathery. Hair can be feathery. A cake can have a feathery texture if it is very light in your mouth. The word paints a picture of softness and lightness. It does not usually mean "made of real feathers" — that is more often feathered (a feathered hat, a bird's feathered wings). A cloud is feathery; it is not feathered.
