    A farmhouse is the main house on a farm, the one the farmer and the family live in. It is the home, not the barn, not the shed, not the chicken house — those are work buildings. In pictures it often looks old and a bit on its own, with fields all around, though actually a farmhouse can be new and quite plain. People also stretch the word into a style: farmhouse bread, a farmhouse kitchen, meaning simple, country, homemade. That use is common in shops and magazines. The farm is the whole place; the farmhouse is where you sleep.
