Electrics are the parts of a machine — or a car, or a house — that use electrical power: the wires, the fuse box, the switches, the bits that carry the current. A mechanic might say “there’s a problem with the electrics” when the lights fail or the engine will not start because of a wire, not because of oil or petrol. This is mainly British workshop talk; Americans usually say “the electrical system” or “the wiring.” It is almost always plural, with the: the electrics. Though actually, it does not mean electricity itself — that is the power, the invisible stuff in the wires. And it does not mean an , who is the person. You would not say “I studied electrics at school” if you mean the science; that is physics or electrical engineering. The word stays close to the hardware you can point at. Informal to neutral; you will hear it in garages more than in exams.
組成electric + -s (plural noun: the electrical parts). The electric piece goes back through Latin to Greek ἤλεκτρον, “amber,” the old root behind words for electricity.
