An ecoterrorist is a person who is said to use fear, sabotage or force to stop organisations or companies they believe are hurting the environment. It is the person-word that sits next to ecoterrorism, the act. A newspaper may use it for someone who burns logging equipment or breaks into a lab. The spelling may make you think only of the action, but this word names the human being. Though actually, almost nobody uses it as a proud job title. It is a charge. Whether that person is “a terrorist” or “a militant activist” depends on who is talking — the company, the police, or the person’s own friends. Do not treat it as a calm scientific word, and do not mix it with ecologist (a scientist) or eco-warrior (a looser label, sometimes worn with pride). Same eco- piece, very different hats, and a very different temperature.
生態恐怖分子(也有人寫環保恐怖分子。跟生態學家、環保鬥士都不是同一個意思;這是指控用詞)
組成eco- + terrorist.
