If someone gives you an earbashing, they criticise you in an angry way for a long time because they think you did something wrong. The “bashing” is with words, not with a hand. You get an earbashing, or someone gives you one. It is informal, and you will hear it more from British and Australian speakers than from American ones, who more often say they got an earful or a telling-off. Though actually, in Australia to earbash someone can also mean to talk at them for ages even when the speaker is not angry — just hard to stop. In the angry sense, it is what a parent, a boss, or a teacher does when they have had enough.
