It is not a doctor's official disease name, like anorexia. News writers and people online use it, often about young women, and often in a judging way. People stretch it. Sometimes they mean a hard, worrying pattern: almost no food, then a lot of drink. Sometimes they only mean 'I didn't eat much so I can drink tonight.' The serious kind hurts you twice: the body has little food, and then alcohol hits harder and faster. Though actually, the word sounds a bit like a joke, and that joke-feeling can hide how dangerous the mix is.
