    Distributive is an adjective for things connected with giving out, spreading, or sending goods, money, or tasks to different people or places. A distributive network is the system that moves products from a factory toward shops. Distributive are the jobs that sell and deliver rather than make. You meet this most in business, economics, and somewhat formal writing; it is not a dinner-table word. Though actually, English keeps the same “giving out” idea in two specialist corners. In mathematics, the distributive property is the rule that a number can be portioned across a bracket: 3 × (2 + 4) is the same as 3×2 + 3×4. In grammar, distributive words like each, every, and either pick members out one by one rather than as a lump. All of these keep the core: something is being assigned or spread, not piled in one place.

組成From Middle French distributif, from Latin distribūtīvus, built on distribuere, “to divide and give out” (dis- “apart” + tribuere “to assign”).
