Dissimilarity is the noun: the fact of not being the same, or the ways two things are not the same. If two paintings are dissimilar, you can talk about the dissimilarity between them. It is a school-and-essay word. In speech, people more often say difference. Difference is the everyday bucket; dissimilarity keeps the “not alike” idea in view, and it often shows up when someone is measuring or listing how two things fail to match. It does not, by itself, say which one is better.
