A disjunction is a difference between two things you would expect to line up. The poster says one thing; daily life says another. The numbers in the report do not match the story the boss is telling. The two sides should agree, and they do not — that split is the disjunction. Though actually, this is a rather formal, essay-and-lecture word. Journalists and academics like it because it sounds careful. Most people would say gap, , or disconnect. It does not mean a road junction: a junction is where things join; a disjunction is where they fail to. There is also a classroom sense in logic and grammar, where a disjunction is an or — this or that. You mainly meet that sense in a textbook, not in the newspaper. The meaning you will meet in serious writing is the these-two-should-match-and-they-don't one.
