A junction is a place where one road, railway track, or path meets another. Cars may turn, wait, or choose a new way. In Britain, junctions have numbers (“leave at Junction 8”). On a railway, a junction is where lines split or come together. Though actually, English also uses it for other joining-places — wires in a box, , even two rivers — because the idea is always “where things join.” For , the everyday picture is still roads and tracks. It is a neutral, useful word; not slang, not especially fancy.

組成From Latin iūnctiō, “a joining,” from iungō, “to join.” In English it lines up with join + -tion (the ending that makes a noun for an action or its result).
