To disclaim something is to say, often in an official way, that it is not yours, that you are not responsible, that you did not know, or that you had no part in it. A company may disclaim any link with a product sold in its name. A person may disclaim knowledge of a plan. It is not a kitchen-table word; you would not use it about lost keys. In ordinary talk people just say “I had nothing to do with it.” Disclaim is the careful, public, sometimes legal version of that. Though actually, saying it does not always make the responsibility go away — it is a claim, and other people may not accept it.
組成From Old French desclamer: des- (away, the opposite) + clamer (to cry out, to claim). So, to claim the opposite — to say a thing is not yours.
