    If something is dewy, it is wet with small drops of dew. Grass in the early morning is often dewy; so are leaves, spider webs, and the roof of a car. The drops are cold and clear, not like rain that has just fallen. Writers also use dewy for things that look fresh, soft, and a little wet in the same way — dewy skin, a dewy look in makeup — meaning a healthy shine, not actual dew. That second use is common in beauty talk. The core picture stays the same: covered with, or looking like, those tiny morning drops.
