    Desensitization is when someone is made to react less strongly to a thing because they have become used to it. Doctors use it for allergies: a little of the thing, then a little more, until the body does not panic. use it so a memory hurts less. People also use it about screens and news: if you see violence every night, you may stop feeling much. The same word can sound like help (a treatment) or like a warning (your heart is going dull). A bit technical, but common in health talk and in talk about media.
