When we call a person, an act, or a taste depraved, we mean it is morally rotten — so far from what most people think is right that it feels cruel, dirty, or broken at the heart. It is a heavy word. Courts and newspapers use it for crimes that shock people, not for a small lie or a rude joke. Though actually, speakers also stretch it. Friends may call a film, a joke, or even someone's food choices depraved, half as a laugh, when they only mean “weird” or “a bit nasty.” In serious talk it still means “morally wrecked,” not “a bit bad.” It describes the person or the act; the name of that state is .
組成From Latin: a prefix that pushes the meaning all the way (“completely”) plus an old piece meaning “crooked” or “wrong” — not a little off, but bent through.
