    A deportee is a person who has been or who is about to be . The ending -ee marks the person the action happens to — the same way an employee is the person who is employed. The word belongs to news and official writing. It names someone as the one the state is sending away, which can sound cold, as if that were the only fact about them. In kinder speech people often just say the people being sent back.
