Deodorant is a product you put on the skin under your arms so that sweat does not make you smell bad. It comes as a stick, a roll-on, or a spray, and it is an everyday shop word — not fancy, not rude. Though actually deodorant and antiperspirant are not the same job: deodorant fights or covers the smell; antiperspirant tries to stop the sweat itself. Many bottles on the shelf do both, and people still just say deodorant. You put it under your arms. You would not usually call a room spray deodorant; that is an air freshener, and perfume on the neck is something else again.
