Denationalization is when a government sells a business it owns — a railway, a bank, an electric company — so private people or companies own it instead. The state is then no longer the owner. News and use this word; everyday English often says selling it off, or privatisation. Though actually, and denationalization are two sides of the same door: one is the state taking ownership, the other is the state selling it away. It is a formal policy word, not a kitchen-table word.
民營化(臺灣新聞與口語幾乎都說民營化;「私有化」較常見於對岸或較學術的寫法)
組成de- (undo) + nationalization (the state taking ownership). So: undoing state ownership.
