Degraded, from the verb degrade, describes something that has become worse, weaker, or lower in quality than it used to be — a degraded photo or video looks blurry or low-quality compared to the original; a degraded environment has been damaged and made less healthy over time. It can also describe how a person is treated: to degrade someone means to treat them in a way that removes their dignity and makes them feel worthless — 'a degrading job' or 'degrading treatment' is deeply disrespectful, not just unpleasant.
