1. 1

A cyberchondriac is a person who keeps falling into internet health-fear: they read about illnesses online and become sure they have something serious. The short line you may see describes the fear itself — that fear is cyberchondria. This word, with the person-ending, names the one who has it, the same way hypochondriac names a person with hypochondria. Newspapers sometimes use it with a little smile, which can feel : the person is often , not silly. Though actually, googling a symptom once does not make you this. Use the word carefully, or talk about the anxiety instead of labelling the student.
