Think of cutout as what is left after you cut something out: a line goes right round, and something comes away from the whole. Sometimes what comes away is a shape you can hold. Sometimes what is taken away is the flow of electricity, and the part that does the taking is itself called the cutout.
cutout 可以想成「切出來」這個動作留下的結果。剪刀沿著一條線走一圈，有東西就從整體上脫離了。脫離的如果是一片形狀，你手上就多了一個可以拿起來的東西。脫離的如果是電流，切斷它的那個零件本身就被叫做 cutout。兩邊共用的畫面，都是「本來連在一起，現在被切開了」。
