Used of a project that got its money from many people, each giving a little, usually online — not from one bank, studio, or rich . So a film, a game, or a can be crowdfunded: the money has already been raised that way. The method itself is crowdfunding; crowdfunded is the form that means it happened, or that describes the finished project. It became common in the 2000s with the internet. It is not the same as , which is about asking the public for work or ideas, not for money.
