- 1
If a bank calls you creditworthy, they have decided you look able to pay your debts. You are, in their eyes, a safe person to lend to. It is not a compliment about your character in general — a kind person can fail this test, and a cold person can pass it, if the numbers look good. Built from credit (the money kind of trust: will they pay?) plus worthy (deserving). Banks, landlords, and card companies use it. Ordinary conversation more often says good credit or they will lend to you. Though actually, creditworthy is a yes/no feeling from the lender’s side; it can change after one missed bill.
