Counterinsurgency is what a government and its army do to fight people inside the country who are already fighting that government. Those fighters are : they want to break or replace the state, often with guerrilla attacks rather than a full open war. Counterinsurgency is the answer — soldiers, police, information work, and sometimes aid or propaganda, all aimed at stopping that fight. It is a heavy political and military word, used by officers, governments, and news about war. Though actually, the word can sound clean and technical while the work on the ground is messy, and different countries use it to describe very different kinds of force.
組成From counter- (against) + insurgency. Insurgency is insurgent (a person rising against the government) + -cy (the state or activity).
