Cosmology is the science of the universe as a whole: where it came from, what it is made of, how it is built, how it changes. People who do this work, often inside astronomy, are cosmologists. It is a university and research word. In loose talk someone might say “space science,” but that bag also holds planets, rockets, and weather on Earth. Though actually, cosmology is not the same as , which is specifically about origin stories, and it is definitely not cosmetology, which is the beauty trade. Those last two only look a little like it on the page.
