As an adjective, copybook means completely suitable or correct — so correct it could be the model on the page. A copybook landing, a copybook tackle, a copybook answer: nothing out of place, textbook-neat. It is especially British, and it can sound a little old or admiring, though actually it can also hint that something was perfect and a bit lifeless, like a page with no personality. The picture underneath is a real book: a copybook was a book of model handwriting that schoolchildren copied. If your letters matched the model, they were copybook letters. The adjective kept the 'as good as the model' sense and left the classroom behind.
