冷靜期
Something is hot, and everyone knows that hot things should not be handled yet. So a stretch of time is left deliberately empty. Nothing is decided inside it and nothing is final yet. All it does is let the heat go out, so that whatever happens next is decided by a cool head instead of a hot one.
可以想成有東西正燙著，而大家都知道燙的時候不該動它。於是刻意空出一段時間。這段時間裡什麼都不決定，也什麼都還沒定案。它唯一的功能就是讓熱度散掉。等熱度散掉，下一步才是冷靜的腦袋做的決定，而不是當下那個熱的腦袋。cool off 原本就是「降溫、消氣」，period 是那段時間。
