    A contraindication is the medical reason itself — the fact that means you should not give someone a particular medicine or treatment. Pregnancy, another illness, or an allergy can each be a contraindication. Doctors print contraindications on the sheet that comes with a medicine: a list of “do not use if…”. It is a formal medical word; in everyday talk people just say reasons you should not take this. Though actually a contraindication is stronger than “this might not help.” It means using the drug could be the wrong or unsafe move for that person.
