If you do something contentedly, you do it with that quiet “this is enough” feeling. The ending -ly turns the feeling into a way of doing the action. She smiled contentedly. He sat contentedly in the garden with a cup of tea. It does not mean you did the action well. It only means the feeling sitting on top of the action is calm and satisfied. Same warm, mood as contented. You will see it more in writing and stories than hear it in fast chat, but it is still a normal, kindly word.
