If you do something considerately, you keep other people’s feelings and needs in mind, and you try not to make life harder for them. You might close a door considerately so it does not bang while a baby is sleeping, or speak considerately when someone is upset. It is a kind, polite word, a little formal — more at home in writing and careful speech than in a shout across a room. It is simply the adverb from considerate: the considerate person does things considerately.
