From comprehensive + -ly; comprehensive traces back to Latin comprehendere 'to seize or grasp together' (com- 'together' + prehendere 'to seize'), the same root as comprehend.
comprehensively 是 comprehensive 加上副詞字尾 -ly。comprehensive 往上追到拉丁文 comprehendere，字面是「一把抓在一起」（com- 一起 + prehendere 抓住），跟 comprehend 同源。這個「一把全抓住」的手勢，正好解釋了為什麼現代的 comprehensively 指的是「涵蓋到不剩下什麼」。
