Compassionately tells you how someone does something: they act or speak with real care for another person’s pain, not just . “She listened compassionately” means she made room for the hurt; “She is compassionate” describes the person. Same warmth as compassion, same slightly formal, kind register. You meet it in writing a little more than in quick chat — though actually, a good speaker will still choose it when they want the manner, not just the personality, to be clear.
