A commie is an insulting, casual word for a communist — someone who believes in communism, or who is said to. It is short and sharp, the kind of label people throw in an argument, not the word you use in a careful essay. In the last century, especially in Cold War talk, English speakers used it to attack opponents, sometimes even people who were only a little left-wing. Though actually, some people now say it jokingly about themselves or their friends; the voice decides whether it cuts. In a formal class, say communist. Commie is the nickname that stings. It can also be used like an adjective (“commie ideas”), still rude.
組成A blend of communist + -ie (a nickname ending; here it is used to mock, not to be cute).
