From Latin coalescere 'to grow together, unite' (com- 'together' + alescere 'to grow'). A coalition is separate parts grown into one.

源自拉丁文 coalescere「一起長、合而為一」（com- 一起＋ alescere 生長）。所以 coalition 的畫面比較像『分開的東西長成一體』，正是核心裡幾股力量併攏的意思。
