Clamminess is the unpleasant wet-cold-sticky quality itself — the thing you feel, not the word you use to describe a surface. You notice clamminess on your palms before a test, on a sick person's skin, in sheets that never quite dried, in close damp air. English usually treats it as uncountable: the clamminess, not one clamminess after another, though you may hear a clamminess in the air. Same picture as clammy: not simply wet, and not simply cold.
