    Clammily is how something happens when it is a bit wet, a bit cold, and a bit sticky — the damp that makes you want to wipe your hands. Air can hang clammily in a cellar; a handshake can land clammily; a cloth can sit clammily on your skin. It does not name the thing itself (that is clammy); it names the manner. You will meet it less often than clammy, but the picture is the same: not dripping-wet, not warm-bath-wet, just that cold clingy damp.
