Centralized describes a country, a company, or a system whose control already sits in one place: things are done or decided at the capital or the head office, and the other places follow. It is the -ed form of the verb , used as an adjective (a centralized government, a centralized database) or as the past: they centralized the system last year. The word is formal. Though actually, people often say a system is “too centralized” when the centre feels far away and slow, and a local problem cannot be fixed without asking permission. The opposite picture is a system, where many places decide for themselves. Same idea as , but here you are naming the state, not the action.
