1. 1

A cardiologist is a doctor whose work is the heart — and often the blood vessels around it. If you have chest pain, a heartbeat that will not stay steady, or blood pressure that needs more than a family doctor, you may be sent to a cardiologist. The word is ordinary in hospitals; patients also just say heart doctor. Though actually, this is usually not the doctor who cuts the heart open. That is a cardiac surgeon. A cardiologist mostly runs tests, names the problem, and treats it with medicine or with procedures that do not mean open surgery. Nothing to do with playing cards.

    心臟科醫師(開刀的多半是心臟外科醫師)
