Bournemouth is a town on the south coast of England, by the sea. People go there on holiday for the beaches and gardens. It is also a well-known centre for English language schools, so you will meet many international students in the summer, and it has long been a place for political conferences. Because the weather is milder than much of Britain, it is a popular place to live after people stop working. The name is simply the River Bourne plus mouth — the place where that stream meets the sea. Though actually, in speech the mouth is not fully sounded out; it comes out more like BORN-muth.

組成Bourne (the name of a local stream) + mouth (where a river meets the sea). Doublet of Burnmouth.
