Bewilderment is the feeling of being very confused — so lost that you do not know what to think, or which way to turn. It is a noun, so you can be in bewilderment, or you can have a look of bewilderment on your face. It is a little more formal than “confusion.” In everyday talk most people just say “I’m so confused.” Though actually the two overlap a lot: confusion is the ordinary word; bewilderment is when the lost feeling is strong, almost like standing still because you cannot start. You will hear it in stories and news more than in casual chat.
