A barkeeper is someone who serves drinks in a bar: pouring beer, mixing simple drinks, taking money. The word is mainly American, and it sounds a little old now — more like a film than a job advert. Today most people say bartender. Barkeeper can also hint that the person looks after the bar, not only pours, though actually English is messy here. Bartender, barkeeper, and barman overlap, and countries pick different favourites: British English likes bartender or barman; American English now likes bartender. None of these is rude. Barkeeper is just the older American cousin.
