    An innkeeper owns or runs an inn: an older kind of place where sleep, and often eat and drink. It is a warm, slightly storybook word — you meet it in folk tales and on the signs of country more than on a city business card. A big modern hotel has a manager; an innkeeper suggests a smaller house, and a person who is there at the door.
