This is the adverb: if something begins auspiciously, it begins in a way that looks likely to succeed. Same idea as auspicious, but it tells you how an action happens, not what kind of thing it is. It is formal. In everyday speech people usually say it started well. You will see it with verbs like begin, start, and open.
