An audiobook is a book you listen to instead of reading with your eyes. Someone reads the story or the facts aloud, and that reading is recorded. You can hear it on a phone, a computer, or an older CD player. Some recordings use one reader; some use several voices, a bit like a radio play, but it is still an audiobook if a book is being read. People use audiobooks when their hands or eyes are busy — walking, riding the bus, doing chores — or when print is hard to read. It is everyday English now, not a technical word. It is not the same as a podcast. A podcast is usually a show made for listening from the start; an audiobook starts as a book. You may also see audio book as two words; the one-word form is very common.
