An attosecond is a unit of time equal to 10⁻¹⁸ of a second — a billionth of a billionth of a second. Scientists use it when they talk about electrons moving inside atoms, which happens far too fast for ordinary clocks. You will almost never meet this word outside physics and chemistry labs. A millisecond and even a nanosecond are huge beside it: one nanosecond is a billion attoseconds. Though actually, nobody ‘feels’ an attosecond; it is a measuring word, not a living-experience word.
