When you do something assiduously, you do it with that same careful, complete attention — you keep at it, you check, you do not skip the boring parts. It is the adverb of , and it has the same formal, slightly dusty feel. “She assiduously” is something a biography would say; a teenager would say “she a lot” or “she really stuck to it.” Though actually, because the word is so heavy, writers sometimes use it with a wink, for someone who is assiduously avoiding the washing-up. The joke only works because the real meaning is “with great care, all the way.”
