1. 1

An armlet is a band or ring of jewellery worn around the upper arm — the thick part between shoulder and elbow, not the wrist. It may be gold, silver, beads, or cloth with metal, sometimes quite wide. You see armlets in fashion, in dance costume, and in some traditional dress. It is not a very everyday shop word; a seller might say “armband” or “upper-arm bracelet” instead. Though actually, an armband is often cloth or elastic, for sport or for a message, not jewellery. Some writers stretch armlet to any band on the arm, but the core picture is decoration worn high on the arm.
